Warrenton Airpark (WAP) Hangar Update

The hangar picture at Warrenton Air Park as of mid-March 2009 is summarized by the air park owner as follows:

Three "original" buildings configured as separate (securable) T-Hangars - 2 of the buildings have 6 'T's, one has 4 'T's - (a total of 16 'T's). All have concrete floors and electrical power and some degree of lighting. Rental rates range from $175/mo to 200/mo - with modest discounts for Semi-annual or yearly advance payment.

Two 40'x40' cloth hangars - (this is the "low rent" district intended as a temporary housing project when I erected them over 3 years ago). These are across the main runway from the other hangars. They provide minimal security/privacy, a dirt floor, no electricity and a modest degree of protection from wind, rain and sun. 3 planes can fit somewhat comfortably in each. Road vehicle access to these is gained via dirt road from Hi-way 29 since driving across the main runway is not allowed. Rental for these is $60/mo.

The "barn hangar" is a newer 45ft-by-80ft structure with a 39-foot opening on each side and a 44-foot door on the one end that faces west. The floor is gravel and no electrical power except by portable gas-powered generator. We plan to add sliding doors on the sides very soon with commercial electric power and lights to come perhaps a bit later. 6 planes currently share this space. Until we get the doors, power and lights, I am charging $75/mo for his shared space - It will go to $100/mo when doors/lights/power are added. It is full now - although 2 planes/projects will be moved out as soon as the one described below is "floored".

The "new mother" hangar is under construction - now has a concrete pad at the south end and most of the metal on the roof. This is designed to contain 8 large 'T's with total outside dimensions of 190ft-by-45ft. When completed (I hope by mid-summer), it will have concrete flooring, 110 and 220 current, built-in lighting, and "premium" doors - meaning easier to open/close/secure than the doors on the older hangars. There will be 4 different door widths... i.e. 2 each of the following widths: 44 feet (ends), 42 feet, 40 feet and 36 feet (middle). These will rent for the $220-250/mo range.
